How to Order Custom CNC Parts

A complete step-by-step guide — from uploading your design to receiving precision parts at your doorstep.

Before You Start

  • Prepare your design as a DXF file. All manufacturing processes require a 2D DXF file. You can export DXF from AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, CorelDRAW, Inkscape, LibreCAD, or any other CAD software.
  • Know your material and thickness. Check our Materials Guide to understand which materials are compatible with each process.
  • Decide on post-processing. Options include deburring, painting, and powder coating. These can also be selected during the quoting step.
  • No account needed to get a quote. You can upload, preview, and price your part without logging in. An account is only needed at checkout.
1

Go to the Design Page

Navigate to designtodoor.com/html-design.html. This is where all the magic happens — uploading, previewing, quoting, and adding to cart.

2

Select Manufacturing Process

Choose from three manufacturing processes:

  • Fiber Laser Cutting — for metals (mild steel, stainless steel, aluminum)
  • CO2 Laser Cutting — for plastics (acrylic, ABS, PVC/WPC)
  • CNC Routing — for wood, composites, stone, thick plastics
3

Select Material and Thickness

The material dropdown updates dynamically based on your selected process. Pick the exact material and sheet thickness for your part.

💡 Not sure which material to pick? Check our Materials Guide for properties, use cases, and compatibility info.
4

Upload Your DXF File

Click the upload area and select your 2D DXF design file. The system parses your file instantly — lines, arcs, circles, polylines, splines, and ellipses are all supported.

5

Review in 2D Viewer

Your design renders in an interactive 2D canvas. You can zoom in/out (scroll wheel), pan (click and drag), and inspect every detail of your geometry before proceeding.

6

Set Bend Lines (Laser Cutting Only)

For fiber laser and CO2 laser parts, the system auto-detects bend lines from your DXF based on layer/color conventions. You can also manually designate any straight line as a bend line, or remove auto-detected ones.

💡 Bend lines must be straight lines that span the full width of the part at the bend location.
7

Review 3D Preview

A full 3D rendering of your part with all bends applied is generated automatically. Rotate, zoom, and pan to verify that your part looks exactly as intended before ordering.

8

Select Post-Processing Options

Choose from available finishing options: None, Deburring, Painting, Powder Coating, and more. Available options depend on your selected material.

9

Set Quantity

Enter the number of identical parts you need. There is no minimum order quantity — you can order even a single piece.

10

View Instant Price and Add to Cart

The price updates instantly as you change any parameter. You'll see a full breakdown: material cost, cutting cost, bending cost, and post-processing cost. Click "Add to Cart" when satisfied.

11

Checkout and Pay

Go to your cart, review all items, enter your shipping address, and pay securely via Razorpay. Accepted methods: UPI, credit/debit cards, net banking, and digital wallets.

12
